As you all know, the work that we do is so important. We keep homes safe and clean, help raise and educate the next generation, and support seniors and people with disabilities to live with dignity. But our work isn’t always valued the way it should be. Over the years, nannies, housecleaners and home care workers have been excluded from some of the basic labor protections that cover other workers.

That’s why the National Domestic Workers Alliance is launching a campaign to win a National Domestic Workers Bill of Rights! Over the past ten years, we’ve won similar local laws in 8 States and one city. These fights have taken a long time, and it’s a long process, but an important one.

We’re working with Senator Kamala Harris and Representative Pramila Jayapal to try to pass a new national law that will include new rights for nannies, housecleaners and home care workers. They just announced that they’ll be introducing this bill in early 2019. This is really big news! And it’s just the beginning. Over 2019, we’re going to learn together what it takes to make a national law, and we’ll provide more information on what’s in the bill and what it could mean for all of us. It’s going to be a long fight to win what domestic workers all around the country need and deserve. Join the campaign to make history!
